Sarah Jessica Parker has finally spoken out regarding her refusal to shoot alongside her Sex and The City co-stars for Kim Cattrall’s forthcoming And Just Like That appearance.
To commemorate the first day of Pride month on June 1, Kim confirmed her return as Samantha Jones, which surprised fans because she wasn’t invited back for the Sex and the City revival and said she wouldn’t have wanted to reunite with her former co-stars, Sarah, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon, even if she had been approached to.
Samantha is back, and despite their public animosity, Carrie Bradshaw actress Sarah insists the brief cameo is a “lot of joy.”
Samantha’s surprise return, she told MailOnline, is “very fun, exhilarating, and certainly nostalgic.”
Carrie and Samantha chat over the phone in the scene, which ends on a cliffhanger.
In season one, it was revealed that they had split up after Carrie hired a new publicist, but they began texting again after the death of Carrie’s husband, Big.
Evan Chandler, who plays Harry Goldenblatt, previously stated that Kim recorded her portion in a “garage” and had no touch with the other cast members.
Kirstin added she hopes people aren’t ‘disappointed’ with Charlotte.
‘We just thought that, you know, it would be fun for the fans to have a little bit of Samantha because we know that they miss her and she’s a great character,’ she said.
‘I don’t know that we’re even trying for closure at this point, or resolution. I think we just thought you know, here is, you know, our character who’s been gone. And we know people miss her and Carrie misses her…
‘And wouldn’t this be great to have a little bit of her, you know, that’s what we wanted. And then I think maybe hopes have been lifted, possibly higher than that. And that was not our intention. So I hope people aren’t disappointed.’
And Just Like That returns to Sky Comedy and NOW on Thursday June 22.
