While hosting BBC Breakfast, Sally Nugent accidently confused her normal co-star for someone else.
The 51-year-old presenter introduced Jonah Fisher during the live TV programme broadcast, however he was not visible on the screen during a connection.
It all happened as the programme was reporting on how the weather was affecting farmers in the UK, and Jonah was on location visiting a farm to get the inside scoop.
‘Well, the damp circumstances are presenting a significant difficulty for farmers who are straining to harvest swiftly and efficiently,’ Sally said.
Sally believed Jonah was adopting a hands-on reporting approach after seeing a guy tending lambs on the TV.
‘Our environmental correspondent Jonah Fisher is at the North Devon show for us this morning and he’s already busy.’
‘Morning Jonah,’ she politely said, as co-host Jon Kay, 53 watched on.
However, it didn’t take her long to notice the error of her ways: ‘Oh, it’s not him!’ She then let out a little laugh at her mistake.
Fortunately, Jonah, who understood the irony, was nearby to explain what was going on. ‘No, that’s not me doing the scrubbing there,’ he said, standing to the side, away from the activity.
Jonah, ever the professional, kept things moving and informed viewers about who was in charge of the sheep.
‘That’s Ricky and Emily who are giving their Exmoor horn sheep a bit of scrub before the show!’
This isn’t the first time something has gone wrong on the show. Carol Kirkwood, the weather presenter, demonstrated her professionalism last week when she was attacked by dogs during a live cross.
Carol had been referred to the Guide Dog National Centre in Warwickshire’s Leamington Spa.
Carol mentioned multiple times that she was having a lovely day at work, despite the fact that a couple of her new acquaintances attempted to make her job a little more difficult by eating her hair and biting her microphone.
A dog also dragged her away from the camera. That’s live television for you!
