Rylan Clark and his mum Linda left viewers in hysterics on Celebrity Gogglebox last night, as the TV presenter attempted to explain Paddington to her.
The pair had become TV sofa critics once again in the new series of the popular Channel 4 programme, which also featured Joanna Lumley, Sam Ryder, Guz Khan and Oti Mabuse.
Rewatching the iconic Paddington clip from the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, in which Queen Elizabeth II and the adorable bear character, played by Ben Whishaw, bond over their love for marmalade sandwiches, Linda was left baffled at how Paddington actually exists.
While most viewers just accept the nation’s beloved animated bear as he is, Linda was more concerned with how he was appearing on the screen opposite the Queen.
A confused Linda questioned: ‘Do you reckon he’s there?’ to which a baffled Rylan responded: ‘What?!’
Linda continued: ‘He’s not there, is he?’ once again referring to whether Paddington was actually in Buckingham Palace.
‘That is the real Queen,’ she confirmed.
‘Yes, but Paddington is not a real bear,’ Rylan tried to explain, before it became clearer that while Linda knew Paddington wasn’t a real bear, she did think he was actually a puppet.
She continued asking baffling questions, saying: ‘How does [The Queen] know? Can she see it talking to her?’
Rylan seemed to not be able to handle the confusion anymore, as he walked off saying: ‘No mum, because it’s not there. I’ve had this chat with you before.’
Fans found the moment absolutely hilarious, taking to social media to share their laughter.
One viewer wrote: ‘Rylan’s mum is a national treasure,’ while another penned: ‘Rylan’s mum Linda nearly made me wet myself, naturally hilarious lady.’
A third commented: ‘Thank God Rylan and Linda are back! All odds well in the world again!’
Others were calling for Rylan and Linda to have their own show, which we would absolutely be here for.
Celebrity Gogglebox continues next Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
