Royal Variety Performance 2020: Captain Tom Moore’s duet with Michael Ball and NHS choir leaves viewers sobbing

Royal Variety Performance viewers were left sobbing on Wednesday night after Captain Tom Moore sang You’ll Never Walk Alone with Michael Ball.

We’re not crying, you are.

Michael appeared on the Blackpool Opera House stage, along with the NHS choir, while Captain Tom featured via video link.

Earlier this year Captain Tom helped to raise £33m for NHS charities by walking in his garden

He set out to walk 100 laps of his garden in Marston Moretaine in Bedfordshire before his 100th birthday on April 30, and of course, he smashed it.

Captain Tom and Michael also released You’ll Never Walk Alone as a single in April and it reached the number one spot.

Taking to Twitter after their emotional and moving performance, one viewer sobbed: ‘Anyone else tearing up at this one? Such a moving performance.’

Another commented: ‘On my, I think I have something in my eye.’

One added: ‘In bits at this.’
