Robert Irwin is apparently taking on a significant role on I’m A Celebrity… Get Out of Here!
Don’t worry, Ant and Dec are safe – the 19-year-old is said to be joining the Australian version of the reality show rather than the UK one, so phew!
Dr Chris Brown, who has fronted the series for over a decade before stepping down to seek other chances at rival channel Seven, will be replaced by the son of late TV legend Steve Irwin.
Robert would co-host the show with Julia Morris, who has previously gone viral for her comedic introductions.
The reports, which were published on TV Blackbox, were forwarded to Network 10, who had a good time with their response.
‘The guessing game of who is in the jungle is already afoot with speculation galore as to who will fill those very big shoes for Australia’s most sought-after hosting gig,’ they told Daily Mail.
They teased: ‘But you know how this goes, just like the celebrities in the camp, we can neither confirm nor deny any rumours surrounding a new jungle host.’
‘For now, we’ll just have to keep you hanging until our intimate Upfront event reveals all.’
There were initially six candidates for the role, and Julia, 55, was determined to ensure they had on-screen chemistry to ensure the show’s success.
‘We start chemistry testing pretty soon with a number of different people – not even a number of different people, I think there’s kind of a party of six. And from there we’ll just work out where that best chemistry is and start a new adventure,’she told Yahoo.
‘Whoever that person is is going to have a huge effect on whether I’m working over the next few years, so I want it to work.’
Robert’s main rivals are said to be sports reporter Tony Armstrong, 33, and comedian Sam Pang, 49.
Although the UK version does not begin until much later this year, there are already murmurs about who could participate, including Danielle Harold and Thomas Skinner.
