Race Around the World lovers, the countdown has begun, as the BBC has revealed the season three premiere date, which is just around the corner.
On a shoestring budget, a new round of two-person teams will race between global destinations without using aeroplanes or smartphones.
And now we get our first glimpse at the cast, which includes Monique and her father Ladi, best friends Tricia and Cathie, and Claudia and her father Kevin.
Zainib and Mobeen, husband and wife, and brothers Marc and Michael round out the cast.
When does Race Across the World series 3 air?
Along with a first look at the actors, the BBC has officially revealed the return date, which isn’t far away.
Season three of Race Around the Globe will premiere on Wednesday, March 22 at 9 p.m.
The third installment, which will show for the first time on BBC One, will be the most intense yet, with the five pairs of travellers racing across a whole continent – ocean to ocean.
Beginning at the Pacific’s edge in Vancouver, the teams will trek almost 16,000 kilometres at ground level across six time zones to the finish line in North America’s most easterly city, Saint John’s Newfoundland.
Starting their voyage in Canada, the couples will have no mobile phones, no internet access, no credit cards, and will only have the financial equivalent of their ultimate destination’s flight.
To win the £20,000 cash prize, the teams will sprint to Saint John’s, Newfoundland, depending on strangers’ compassion, travel abilities, and creativity.
This follows the release of a teaser for the new season last week, in which viewers are reminded that this is no “vacation” as one candidate is seen weeping and proclaiming, “I don’t want to do this.”
It’s safe to assume that this type of mission is not for the faint of heart, but which duo will make it to the end?
Season two of Race Around the Globe began right before lockdown in March 2020, making it two years since we’ve seen a new season.
It included five teams racing from Mexico City’s Chapultepec Castle to Argentina’s Ushuaia, with uncle and nephew combo Emon and Jamiul taking the prize.
Race Across the World series 3 returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Wednesday, March 22 at 9pm.
