Piers Morgan poked fun at his previous employer ITV and the latest controversy surrounding This Morning.
The 58-year-old previously presented Good Morning Britain but resigned after storming off the studio and refusing to apologise for remarks made about Meghan Markle.
The presenter then found a home at News UK’s failing TV station, talkTV, where he has hosted Uncensored since 2021, interviewing celebrities like as Stormy Daniels.
Piers, on the other hand, has been critical of ITV, notably after Phillip Schofield lied about his affair with a younger runner on This Morning.
He said that the connection was known to “everyone at ITV.” The broadcaster has consistently denied knowledge of the romance and stated that they were ‘heavily disappointed.’
In a subsequent outburst on his programme in June, he complained that the way the broadcaster treated talent was’morally schizophrenic,’ and he also attacked the way his leaving was handled, claiming he ‘received nothing.’
While Piers has made his feelings about the network known, he was asked if he missed the “drama” at the TRIC Awards earlier this week, when he received an award for his interview with Cristiano Ronaldo.
‘Well, I thought I brought a bit of punch to ITV morning. But my God, they’ve stepped things up, haven’t they,’ he told OK Magazine.
Piers is one of several ITV stars who have spoken out against the channel, with Dr Ranj Singh and Eamonn Holmes accusing it of cultivating a ‘toxic’ atmosphere.
Carolyn McCall, the broadcaster’s leader, was even probed by a parliamentary committee about ‘toxicity’ at This Morning, stating she was ‘disappointed’ by the charges.
‘We do not recognise that in This Morning and the reason for that is that we have tangible evidence to tell you that the vast majority of people at daytime and at This Morning are engaged,’ she insisted.
Meanwhile, Piers has lately stated that Phillip, 61, has been struggling since resigning from all ITV projects after admitting to lying about the affair.
Having previously come to the former Dancing On Ice presenter’s defence, Piers said: ‘I’ve been in touch with Phillip and I think he’s struggling.’
He added to The Sun: ‘It’s tough to leave any big job, let alone when its a big scandal. But he’ll be back. I think he can bounce back.
