Piers Morgan has expressed his displeasure with the cops.
Last year, the former Good Morning Britain host, 58, made headlines after he and his son, then 28, received internet threats.
Despite an inquiry and an arrest, Piers claims the officers should have done more.
On Tuesday night (July 4), the controversial presenter discussed the current situation of the police force on Uncensored.
He began: ‘Almost 600 burglaries a day go unsolved, 77% of all cases are closed without a suspect ever being identified.
‘I had a death threat! Made on my eldest son’s Instagram in public. A specific death threat.
‘And after an 18-month investigation, nothing happened!’
‘It’s not good enough!’, Piers exclaimed.
He went on to say he ‘sympathises’ with the police and ‘always has done’.
Piers believes the ‘vast majority of police officers do a damn good job’ as they ‘risk their lives to protect us’.
‘With their numbers and budgets have been slashed, they’re policing with one arm tied behind their backs, and I feel sorry for them for that. There should be more police on the streets, we all know this,’ he explained.
‘But if the attitude of the police who are on the streets is to throw in the towel, and not even try, then public sympathy will soon run out.’
Indeed, threats made against Piers and his family were examined last year after Piers reportedly received texts claiming he was a “marked man” and that he would be “killed.”
His son Spencer is also claimed to have received texts saying that if his father did not ‘get it,’ he will.
Speaking about the threats at the time, Piers told The Sun: ‘People think it’s perfectly ok to make death threats to public figures on social media but it’s not – there has to be a line drawn, especially when family members are targeted.’
‘That’s why I reported it and I am grateful to the Met Police and Greater Manchester Police for taking it so seriously,’ he added.
‘Cowardly threats have consequences,’ the divisive presenter said.
Last February, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement: ‘On Wednesday 17 February 2021, police received a report of malicious communications relating to messages sent on social media.
‘Officers have spoken with the complainant in person.
‘On 3 August a 43-year-old man was arrested in Manchester on suspicion of making threats to kill. He has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
‘The investigation remains ongoing.’
In an updated statement, the Met Police said: ‘On 17 February 2021, police received a report of malicious communications relating to messages sent on social media. A 43-year-old man was subsequently arrested in Manchester on suspicion of making threats to kill.
‘In May 2022, the case was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service for a charging decision.
‘It decided that the case did not meet the evidential test for prosecution and therefore no further action will be taken against the suspect.’
It seems Piers is unhappy with the outcome.
