Phillip Schofield has stated that he is afraid to leave his house after admitting to having an affair with a younger This Morning colleague.
The broadcaster, 61, has confessed he is afraid of being spat on in the street after saying he has ‘lost everything’ since confessing to the ‘unwise but not criminal’ relationship.
‘I don’t know when I’ll be able to go out the door,’ Schofield said in a new interview released on Friday.
‘I don’t have any spirit. My friends tell me, “It will get better”. It won’t. Not now. Not this one.’
He added to The Sun: ‘I am getting by hour by hour. I have got my girls and my friends.’
Schofield resigned from ITV last week, saying he was ‘utterly devastated and embarrassed’ but denying he had ‘groomed’ the guy.
Schofield stated to Amol Rajan of the BBC that the reaction was taking a toll on his mental health, while also thanking his daughters Ruby and Molly for keeping an eye on him.
He said: ‘Last week, if my daughters hadn’t been there then I wouldn’t be here. And they’ve guarded me and won’t let me out of their sight, it’s like a weird numbness.
