Game of Thrones hero Peter Dinklage has shared his advice to HBO ahead of the incoming prequel House of The Dragon expected to arrive in 2022.
It’s been three years since the Game of Thrones bowed out like a damp squib, but there are plenty of new shows based on the George RR Martin fantasy epic on the way.
Martin himself has seen a rough cut of House of The Dragon’s opening episode (and loved it), but Dinklage – who starred as Tyrion Lannister, one of the few characters to survive in Game of Thrones – has warned HBO not to simply ‘recreate’ the original series.
‘That feels like a money grab,’ he told The Independent.
‘With a lot of sequels, the reason for them is that the first one made a lot of money, which is why they aren’t as strong.’
House of The Dragon stars former Doctor Who lead Matt Smith and is adapted from Martin’s book Fire and Blood, which ends with a massive battle nicknamed The Dance of the Dragons – caused by an inter-family civil war.
