Peter Andre confirms Grease The Musical will ‘dedicate every show’ to Dame Olivia Newton-John following her death

Peter Andre revealed that the remaining Grease The Musical shows will be ‘dedicated’ to Dame Olivia Newton-John following her tragic death.

Dame Olivia, famed for playing Sandy in the classic 1978 musical alongside Travolta, died at the age of 73 on Monday.

She was surrounded by her family, including husband John Easterling and daughter Chloe Lattanzi, when she died at her ranch in California.

A cause of death was not revealed but the screen icon had battled breast cancer for 30 years.

The Mysterious Girl singer – who is currently playing DJ Vince Fontaine in the London production – paid a touching tribute to the Hopelessly Devoted To You hitmaker during Tuesday’s Lorraine.

‘She was warm and very rare you meet someone in this industry that is exactly who you hope they’re going to be,’ he told host Ranvir Singh via video message.

When asked whether they’ll be dedicating the shows to Dame Olivia, Peter replied: ‘I think that’s what they’re going to do, and rightfully so.

‘It’s so sad to hear this because even though you knew she was battling, she was so brave and so strong, so when the news came, we were all in shock.’

‘We didn’t expect that to happen. She was from my experience of meeting her a few times, a lovely lovely person,’ he added.

Tributes are continuing to pour in from all corners of Hollywood, with Mariah Carey sharing photos of occasions when she met Dame Olivia alongside a heartfelt post of fond memories.

The We Belong Together singer tweeted: ‘I first fell in love with Olivia’s voice when I was a little girl and heard “I Honestly Love You.” Songs like “Magic,” “Suddenly” and “Have You Never Been Mellow” showcased her beautiful airy tone and signature sound. And THEN there was GREASE. I was obsessed.

Shortly after news of her death broke, Dame Olivia’s co-star John Travolta shared a heartbreaking tribute on social media.

My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better’, he wrote on Instagram.

‘Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again.’

He signed off with a tear-jerking line: ‘Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!’

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
