Who Wants to be A Millionaire? Viewers were horrified after Jeremy Clarkson let off an incredible howler.
On Sunday’s episode of the legendary ITV gameshow, participant Segun, a dentist, attempted to work his way up the money ladder until he was stuck just one question below the £32,000 safety net.
He felt himself conflicted as the Clarkson’s Farm star. Jeremy inquired, ‘In which ocean are the Faroe Island?’
First, Segun used his 50/50 lifeline after confessing he was torn between the Artic and the Atlantic, which didn’t help when those were the only two options remaining.
He then decided to use another lifeline, asking host Jeremy for some help, referencing his time on Top Gear and The Grand Tour as he added: ‘You seem like a well-travelled man.’
‘Here’s what I think,’ the 63-year-old presenter responded. ‘They’re really far north, so I’m inclined to say Arctic. You’d have to go over towards Iceland.’
However, spectators were left yelling at the television after learning Jeremy had given the candidate the incorrect response.
‘Everyone screaming Atlantic at the telly,’ one fan tweeted, while a second viewer fumed: ‘YOU’RE WRONG JEREMY!’
‘I can’t believe Jeremy thinks the Faroe Islands are in the Arctic Ocean,’ added yet another fan, with someone else writing: ‘Course it’s the Atlantic. They’re just north of Scotland. Nowhere near the Arctic circle.’
The participant didn’t appear swayed by Jeremy’s reasoning, either, and instead chose to utilise his final lifeline, Phone a Friend.
Another person despaired: ‘Oh heavens. All 3 remaining lifelines used up on this single question.’
The host joked that he ‘doesn’t trust me’, and asked pal Stephen the same question, but Segun’s friend just left him more confused by going against Jeremy and choosing Atlantic.
‘You are now in what is the dictionary definition of a pickle,’ he said
Segun replied: ‘My gut feeling is that it’s Atlantic. You did a very good job of convincing me it’s Arctic… is it worth the risk of losing £16,000? I’m going to take the money, final answer.’
