Penn Badgley revealed that he was apprehensive to seek less sex scenes in the most recent season of You.
Earlier seasons focused on Joe Goldberg’s pathological preoccupation with numerous women he is romancing, but the steamy moments were minimised in the fourth installment.
The Gossip Girl star, 36, recently revealed that he requested showrunner Sera Gamble to tone down the personal sequences this time around, but he wasn’t sure he was ready to address it with her.
‘I was nervous to even have that conversation,’ he said.
‘It was not easy. It was easy because of Sera’s response, and I felt relieved. But technically speaking, if I thought I’d had the ability to set that boundary earlier, I would have,’ he added to GQ.
The actor previously stated that he had ‘had enough’ of kissing sequences, adding that he shot his first at the age of 15 21 years ago.
‘It’s caused an interesting conversation. Touching and kissing are some of the few things in the world you can’t simulate; if you’re doing it, you’re doing it,’ he said.
He added to i: ‘I’ve been acting professionally for 25 years. I think my first kissing scene was when I was 15. I’m now 36. I’ve had enough. It’s my boundary and I’m here to set it!’
Netflix has yet to clarify whether a fifth chapter of the Netflix thriller will be released, but the Easy A star, who is married to singer Domino Kirke, has stated that if another series is released, it would most likely be the final one.
Penn recently expressed his expectations for a possible fifth season, although he does not believe fan favourite Ellie Alves (Jenna Ortega) would return.
‘Oh man… I mean the truth is they [Netflix] would have to pay up,’ he said.
‘She’s got that Wednesday money now.’

‘That would be great obviously, that would be so amazing. I don’t know that it’s going to happen. We’ll see.’
