Spoilers for Billions season 6 below.

It’s been an unfortunate case of déjà vu for fitness company Peloton after a TV character in hit series Billions suffered a heart attack weeks after similar scenes aired in And Just Like That.

Back in December, the Sex And The City spin-off’s first episode ended with Mr Big (Chris Noth) dying after a high-intensity workout on one of the famous branded bikes.

But those behind And Just Like That weren’t the only ones who had the product in mind as show Billions aired a similar scene in its latest episode.

The moment in question saw COO Mike Wagner (David Costabile) suffer a heart attack after a Peloton session.

He was quickly rushed to hospital with chest pains in tense scenes.

Despite Mike managing to swerve death after the incident, the brand did not seem happy with being placed in the drama.

Peloton released a statement on their social media pages in response, claiming they ‘did not agree’ to their product being featured.

Posted on their Twitter account, it read: ‘We get TV shows want to include @onepeloton to get people talking.

‘But to be clear, we did *not* agree for our brand or IP to be used on @SHO_Billions or provide any equipment.

‘As the show itself points out, cardio-vascular exercise helps people lead long, happy lives.’

Wagner even referenced the recent on-screen death upon his return to the office, telling staff: ‘I’m not going out like Mr Big.’

Billions co-creator Brian Koppelman said that similarities between the two storylines was purely coincidental.

He told USA Today: ‘That was all in the show, written a year ago and shot in April.’

Koppelman said the scenes were rewritten slightly after what happened in And Just Like That last year, which explains the Mr Big mention.

After airing Big’s death, Peloton quickly blamed it on his ‘extravagant lifestyle’ which consisted of years of excessive alcohol consumption, cigars and big steaks.

He famously dealt with heart issues in season six, and the spin-off opener saw him die in Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) arms.

The actor went on to appear in a parody-style advert for the company, but it was removed when sexual assault allegations were made against him just days later, which he has denied.

Billions airs on NOW TV in the UK.
