Ozzy Osbourne has revealed he has received his coronavirus vaccine this week, saying it was a ‘relief’ to finally get it.
The rock star, 72, who has Parkinson’s has had to shield amid the ongoing pandemic due to his health conditions making him more vulnerable to the virus.
He and wife Sharon Osbourne appeared on Loose Women where he was asked whether he had managed to get the vaccine yet.
Ozzy replied: ‘Of course!’, to which Sharon interjected: ‘Well he says “course”, he only had it yesterday!’
Describing getting the jab, Ozzy joked: ‘It was like being stabbed. No, my arm was a bit sore yesterday but I’m glad I got it, you know.’
When asked if he was relieved to have had it, Ozzy added: ‘Absolutely. As soon as I got it I felt relieved.’
He had previously spoken out about his plans to get the vaccine as soon as he was able, as he feared there was a ‘good chance’ he would die if he caught the virus itself.
Ozzy said on SiriusXM: ‘I want to get the shot. I look at it like this. If I don’t get the shot and I get the virus, there’s a good chance I ain’t going to be here.’
Sharon also revealed that she was about two weeks away from being able to get her own vaccine but says she has antibodies at the moment as she contracted coronavirus before Christmas.
She had a short stay in hospital and isolated away from Ozzy while she was unwell in order to protect him, but thankfully wasn’t seriously ill from coronavirus.
Speaking about Sharon catching coronavirus Ozzy told the panel: ‘Of course I was worried. It’s inevitable you’ll know someone who had it before it’s over.
‘There’s not a lot you can do but I just hoped and prayed she didn’t get really sick or even worse.’
He admitted that he would struggle without Sharon – who he has been with for 40 years – adding: ‘Absolutely – she’s my life.’
