Strictly Come Dancing favourite Oti Mabuse will join ice rink legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean for a unique performance on this Sunday’s episode.
Choreographed by skating royalty Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, the Dancing On Ice professionals will join Oti in the exclusive performance, as ice and dance join forces for a routine adapted from her new stage show, I Am Here.
Oti said: ‘It’s so great to be dancing again and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been working on for my “I Am Here UK Tour” when we debut the show on Dancing On Ice this Sunday!
‘Someone pinch me!
‘Dance will always be my first love and this tour will be the end of the most amazing chapter of my life!
‘My way to say thank you to everyone that has supported me on this journey.’
She added: ‘I’m so honoured that the legendary Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have choreographed the talented pro skaters for this special performance. It’s literally a dream come true.’
Her fellow dancing skater Jayne said: ‘We always love to experiment with new ideas and it was so much fun working alongside Oti on this brand new routine.
‘It really does show how much dance and ice skating can work in unison together, we really hope the viewers enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed working on it together.’
After seven years on Strictly Come Dancing, Oti quit as her popularity became ‘too big’ for the BBC One Show, reports claimed.
The professional dancer announced last Monday that she had made the ‘difficult decision’ to part ways from the competition series, which saw her lift the glitterball trophy twice with Kelvin Fletcher in 2019 and Billy Bailey in 2020.
Motsi Mabuse, her sister and a member of the Strictly judging panel, said: ‘It’s time to fly baby girl! I am so proud of you fearless, courageous and so looking forward to seeing your dreams come true.’
As well as her new role as a judge on Dancing On Ice, Oti will lead another ITV show, presenting a dating show Romeo & Duet.
Dancing on Ice continues Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
