Nicola Sturgeon has “categorically” ruled out the possibility of joining Matt Hancock in reality television.
The Scottish National Party (SNP) leader announced last month that she is resigning, and as her last day approaches, she has stated that she would not be seduced by shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, I’m a Celebrity, or the Great British Bake Off.
On Monday’s episode of Loose Women, she was asked if she may follow in Hancock’s footsteps following the disgraced former health secretary’s own jungle excursion, to which she replied, “Absolutely not.”
As the panel made some suggestions, she replied: ‘I think I can say categorically – please, please hold me to this – I have two left feet, no Strictly, definitely no jungle, I can’t cook or bake.’
On the possibility of being a panellist on the ITV daytime programme, she joked, “Loose Woman? Yeah, I might consider that!’
At the conclusion of the extensive interview, Nicola also participated in some of the day’s more humorous arguments, such as the joy of jogging trousers and bra-free days at home.
‘Having a day where you don’t have to put makeup on is a real luxury,’ she laughed, admitting they have been few and far between after entering politics as a 16 year old.
Earlier in the interview, she joked that she was “mortified” when she realised she was wearing the same red jacket she wore when she resigned.
‘I am utterly mortified. I was watching that clip from my resignation speech – I’m wearing the same jacket today,’ she said. ‘Have I got time to go and change?’
She teased: ‘My mother will give me some talking to.’
Sturgeon commented on her decision to resign, stating that she has “never questioned” that she is doing the right thing, but admitting that it has not yet sunk in.
‘Probably not, it’s a big, big change. I think it’ll take me a while to adapt to a different way of living,’ she said. ‘[But] I’ve never doubted I’ve taken the right decision.’
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV1.
