Amazon Prime Video has decided to axe Nick Frost and Simon Pegg’s comedy-horror series Truth Seekers after just one season.
Truth Seekers marked Nick and Simon’s first TV collaboration since 90s cult classic Spaced and was a hit among fans and critics alike, following ghost hunters investigating paranormal activities across the UK.
Think The X-Files meets Shaun of The Dead starring Nick, Simon, House of The Dragon star Emma D’Arcy, Samson Kayo, Susan Wokoma and horror legend Malcolm McDowell.
Breaking the news in a candid Instagram post, Nick told his 447,000 followers he was gutted by the cancelation.
‘Sadly, Truth Seekers will not be returning for a second season. Truth Seekers has not been renewed, which is a massive kick in the willy for me,’ he said.
‘We really put our all into this – our heart and soul, and blood in some cases, so to not come back is really sad for us.
‘It’s a shame. I think we had lots of lovely ghost stories to tell – stories that will remain now untold. If you liked the show, thank you. And if you didn’t, are you happy now? Happy now?’
Malcolm – famed for played psychopath Alex n a Clockwork Orange – previously confirmed to Metro.co.uk he had been approached to return for a second season, with plans in the works.
‘There’s talk, I don’t know how real it is,’ he said. ‘They asked me if I’d be interested and I said, “Of course. Why wouldn’t I be?”’
Truth Seekers is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
