In old The X Factor video, Niall Horan and Harry Styles can be seen weeping.
In honour of One Direction becoming 13 years old since Simon Cowell’s formation, ITV has released a never-before-seen footage of the band before their lives were forever transformed.
Harry, Niall, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik gained to prominence on The X Factor in 2010.
Despite finishing third behind winner Matt Cardle and runner-up Rebecca Ferguson, they went on to become one of the world’s largest boybands.
Our hearts sank in 2015 when Zayn announced his departure from the band, and as if things couldn’t get any worse, One Direction fans’ lives were crushed just months later when the surviving four members called it quits.
They’ve gone on to have successful music careers, packed stadiums, had families, and sold millions of records individually since then.
ITV has also revealed their second performance in front of Simon and Sinitta, who gushes about how they’ll be the next ‘Justin Bieber’ in the 30-minute tape.
Following their classic performance of Natalie Imbruglia’s Torn, which they later performed live, One Direction covered Kelly Clarkson’s My Life Would Suck Without You.
Their performances got them to the live concerts, and Niall told Simon, ‘We’re going to work really, really, really hard.’
Liam subsequently tells Dermot that he is ‘elated’ to finally go through after auditioning for the programme in 2008.
In other scenes, Dermot converses with Simon as he explains his decision.
He says: ‘I wanted to prove to people that if you know what you’re doing, and you find talented girls and talented guys, you don’t have to overthink the process. Most people do it wrong.’
He adds: ‘I just saw five guys looking devastated who I thought, you know what, I’m just going to take a shot here.’
