A new Netflix documentary will look into Anna Nicole Smith’s life, death, and mysteries.
The streaming service has released the first look trailer for Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me, which will be released next month and features never-before-seen footage of the late model and actress.
The summary teases, “From her first appearance in Playboy in 1992, Anna Nicole’s dizzying ascent was the very essence of the American dream, brought to a tragic halt with her untimely passing in 2007.”
‘With never-before-seen video, home movies, and interviews with crucial characters who have not spoken up until now, this film gives new insights into the story of the classic blonde bombshell almost anybody actually knew,’ says the film’s synopsis.
The Netflix documentary seeks to uncover the truth about Smith, who was born Vickie Lynn Hogan.
In the preview, she declares: ‘I want lots of money to make my dreams come true.’
Frankie Rodriguez, Smith’s friend, had stated that she had struggled with her private and public personalities.
‘There was Vickie Lynn Marshall and Anna Nicole Smith,’ Frankie said. ‘Any kinda camera, you just yelled out her name, “Anna Nicole.” When she turned around, it was on the spot; you saw Anna Nicole.
‘The minute that camera left, it was a whole other person. She was back to Vickie Lynn. I [am] very fortunate to have met and gotten to know Vickie Lynn… How she did it, I don’t know. But whatever she was doing, it was making everybody watch.’
Dannielynn Birkhead, Smith’s daughter, sought answers about her late mother’s life in the 20/20 documentary special Tragic Beauty in 2021.
The teen was filmed retracing her mother’s footsteps on a road trip with her father Larry Birkhead, to visit Anna Nicole’s early homes in Texas, where she was born and spent her early school years.
Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me arrives May 16 on Netflix.
