Netflix had to issue an apology on Sunday after Love Is Blind’s much-anticipated live reunion devolved into mayhem.
The show’s start time was delayed by 75 minutes, leading many subscribers to vent on social media.
Netflix praised fans who’stayed up late’ to see the live programme and were disappointed in a message released over the weekend.
A tweet published on the streaming giant’s official Twitter page read: ‘To everyone who stayed up late, woke up early, gave up their Sunday afternoon… we are incredibly sorry that the Love is Blind Live Reunion did not turn out as we had planned.
‘We’re filming it now and we’ll have it on Netflix as soon as humanly possible. Again, thank you and sorry.’
It didn’t take long for disgruntled comments to pile up beneath the tweet, with one person writing: ‘Hi. Pro tip. Don’t heavily promote something you can’t deliver. Byeeeeeee.’
Other messages included: ‘Disappointing,’ ‘Outrageous’ and ‘Pathetic.’
Another social media user commented, ‘Whilst this is absolutely terrible, since this should have been revealed 30 minutes after delays, what is more wrong is allowing some people to watch it live and others not.’
They continued: ‘If you can’t provide it live for everyone, you shouldn’t allow anyone to watch it live.’
The live finale was supposed to begin at 8 p.m. ET (12 a.m. GMT), but it quickly became evident that there were troubles behind the scenes, causing the streamer to post that there would be a 15-minute delay.
Seven minutes later, Netflix sent out another tweet promising ‘#LoveIsBlindLIVE will be worth the wait…’ while host Vanessa Lachey uploaded an Instagram video at 8.30pm ET reassuring viewers they could expect a healthy dose of ‘tea’.
She added: ‘Everybody broke the internet to see this reunion.
‘So we are ready to roll. We just got to figure this out. We’re getting everything to work. We are not asking any questions to anybody until were streaming live into your living rooms, onto your phones onto your tablets, whatever you’re watching on.’
When announcing the reunion’s filmed release, Netflix attempted to make light of the event.
‘Love Is Blind: The Reunion will be available globally at 12pm PT on April 17. Promise,’ read a social media message posted on Sunday night.
The cast of Love Is Blind series four has had a rollercoaster ride from the pods to the altar, with some partnerships blossoming while others embarrassingly fell apart.
Tiffany Bonds ended her relationship with Marshall Glaze and restarted her romance with Josh Demas away from the cameras, while others split up at the altar.
Which means delay or no delay, this reunion is going to be J.U.I.C.Y.
