Last week, one of the UK’s most contentious dating programmes found its way to American streaming sites, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
nude Attraction, which debuted in 2016, has stunned viewers throughout the country with its concept of’starting where a successful date frequently finishes – nude.’
Guests are crammed inside naked stained glass pods as a contestant chooses their choice to go on a date with with the help of host Anna Richardson.
The format has proven to be extremely successful in the UK, with the series presently in the middle of its seventh season and showing no signs of slowing down.
So, like its Channel 4 cousin The Great British Bake-Off, it’s been tested on American audiences, and the response has been predictably raucous.
One user commented, ‘Whatever else I do in this life, at least I didn’t invent [Naked Attraction]’ before going on to say that the series ‘cannot be unseen’.
‘And I thought Tinder was shallow! Yikes!’ another delighted viewer remarked as America was exposed to the racy dating series.
Some US viewers, however, were quick to point out that the UK and the US may have more in common when it comes to our guilty pleasures on television.
‘I’m watching Naked Attraction and let me just say… UK people, y’all really are trashy like the rest of us,’ recognising the similarities between our two countries.
‘Y’all Naked Attraction is on Max now. Been watching nuts and butts for two hours!’ one happy viewer commented, pleased with the new content.
After getting over their astonishment, several viewers who recall prior periods of television realised Naked Attraction’s resemblance to an old US series.
Are You Hot? Contestants stood in front of a public and a row of judges while wearing very little on the show, which aired for only six episodes in 2003.
Last week, anchor Anna shared that her favourite Naked Attraction moment occurred during an infamous episode from 2019.
‘Who can forget Jude, the choir-going Christian who played The Lord is My Shepherd and then at the same time started licking cream off people’s genitals?’ she said.
