Paul and Natalie of My Mum, Your Dad have declared their breakup following their appearance on the new ITV dating programme.
The former loves were one of the first couples to establish a spark and connection on the show, which was hosted by ex-Big Brother star Davina McCall, but their relationship didn’t endure.
Over the weekend, the pair announced their breakup on social media, as Natalie admitted seeing their relationship play out on screen was ‘bitter sweet’.
‘It has been a very bitter sweet week for me. We ended in August so I have had some time to process things before the show aired,’ she wrote. ‘It was weird watching it back and seeing the hope and excitement that I had definitely has brought up feelings again.
‘I also have some stuff going on outside of this experience so I am not ignoring your messages I will respond I just need a few days to decompress and I will catch up with you soon.’
She has recently participated in a Q&A with her Instagram fans, admitting that it was ‘difficult’ to watch the event knowing they were no longer together.
‘It has been tough watching not gonna lie. It’s definitely brought disappointment. I think you can all see from the show that I was massively hopeful, excited,’ she said in a clip on her Instagram Story. ‘So having to re-watch and go through that disappointment again, it’s not been easy.’
But she added: ‘I am okay, definitely. It’s been a very up and down week, just going through the motions. I know how to bounce back, I’ve done it enough times in my life. I know how to take care of myself.’
Natalie also revealed she and Paul are ‘still friends’ even though things haven’t ‘panned out’ the way they hoped, as they thought they’d be ‘going through this together’ watching their scenes on screen.
And she has insisted despite addressing the breakup and her experience on the show, she has no plans to ‘air dirty laundry’ or go into the ‘nitty gritty’ of their split.
Asked why they’re no longer together, she said the ‘most respectful thing’ is to keep things private, but she did admit sometimes ‘things just don’t align’ and it’s less painful to walk away than ‘trying to force something’.
