The newest My Mum, Your Dad bombshell is about to make a dramatic arrival, and he appears to be channelling his inner Hugh Grant.
The ITV programme presented by Davina McCall has finally premiered, with a group of single parents embarking on their dating travels in quest of love.
What they don’t realise is that their children, who nominated them for the procedure, are all watching from a hidden monitoring room and can make choices on who they believe would be a good match for them.
And Martin, a former basketball star turned sportscaster, is ready to ruffle some feathers and experience his own romantic comedy.
When questioned about the popular film genre, the 56-year-old responded, ‘I see myself in them!’
‘There’s never been a rom-com with a 6ft10, black, former basketball lead, but it’s going to be me’
Martin, who describes himself as a’serial monogamist,’ also revealed that his dating life suffered a little bit as a result of his excellent athletic career.
And his 23-year-old daughter Jessica thinks he’s ready for love.
‘I would say that he’s a gentle giant,’ she said.
‘My friends always used to think my dad was intimidating and scary and I wouldn’t get it as he’s not at all.’
So far, viewers have watched businessman Paul become so scared that he couldn’t speak to therapist Monique, and charming welfare worker Sharon having an affair with PE instructor Elliott.
However, there was a lot of progress made during Tuesday’s show, with Natalie and Paul going on a paddleboard yoga date as their children looked on.
Will Martin’s presence throw a wrench in the works?
My Mum, Your Dad continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX
