Michael Sheen had the perfect response to a troll slating his sitcom Staged.
The actor stars alongside David Tennant in the BBC show, which is set during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown and currently on its second series.
The programme’s latest episode, The Dirty Mochyns, aired last night and left one viewer rather unimpressed.
‘Is it just me or is anyone else really nauseated by David Tennant and Michael Sheen?’ they wrote.
Mustering up the classiest of replies, Michael wrote back: ‘I’m with you, luv. The Welsh one’s the worst.’
Brilliant.
Staged returned for a second series earlier this month, with David and Michael attempting to navigate their ‘new normal’ at home with their increasingly exasperated families whilst simultaneously trying to tackle the world of ‘virtual Hollywood’ and their ever more fragile egos.
Following on from the surprise appearances in series one of Judi Dench and Samuel L Jackson this series sees the regulars joined in their virtual hell by a whole host of unexpected guests.
Whoopi Goldberg, for example, plays David’s agent Mary, while the likes of Jim Parsons, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Ken Jeong are also set to appear as themselves.
The sitcom hopes to capture our shared feelings of frustration and confusion at a world not quite ready to re-open.
Ahead of the new chapter arriving, Michael enthused: ‘It’s been so great to see how much people enjoyed the first series.
‘Seemed like the laughs were much appreciated. It made us really excited about taking it further and going in some surprising and hopefully enjoyable directions this time.’
Staged airs tonight at 9.40pm on BBC One.
