Don’t Hate the Playaz, Maya Jama‘s ITV2 freestyle programme, is reportedly ‘on the chopping block.’
The successful programme developed a cult following and included a slew of high-profile guests from the comedy and music industries, including Ms Banks, Aitch, London Hughes, Katherine Ryan, and Mo Gilligan.
On the anarchic quiz, the current Love Island star, 28, and rapper Lady Leshurr, 35, lead opposing teams, taking part in freestyle challenges and games alongside host Jordan Stephens.
According to TVZone, the comedy series may not return for a fifth season.
‘We are pleased of the multi-award winning success of Don’t Hate the Playaz and will be exploring future opportunities for the series in due time,’ said an ITV spokeswoman.
Presenter Maya resigned away from her other hosting role on Glow Up earlier this year.
She took over as host for the third season in 2021, and the fourth season aired last year.
‘Maya loved her time hosting Glow Up for the last two series but has decided now not to return for another run,’ a source told The Sun.
‘It was a really difficult decision but she’s going to be really busy doing two series of Love Island this year and couldn’t make it work.’
She has, however, been quite busy in recent months, having formally taken over from Laura Whitmore on this year’s winter Love Island.
The summer edition will supposedly arrive in a matter of weeks (Monday, June 5).
While ITV has yet to confirm the launch date, previous seasons of the long-running show have begun on the first Monday in June.
Following her triumphant debut as host, Maya tweeted: ‘Overwhelmed from last night, thankyou so much for you’re kind words.’
Don’t Hate the Playaz is available to stream on ITVX.
