Maya Jama ‘quits’ presenting role on BBC show after Love Island success

Maya Jama has received a lot of accolades as the new Love Island anchor, but she appears to have left her previous presenting job on Glow Up.

Stacey Dooley hosted the first and second seasons of Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star in 2019.

The reality competition series seeks new make-up artists who compete in weekly tasks to advance through the competition.

Maya, 28, will host the third season in 2021, following the fourth season, which aired last year.

Maya has reportedly quit her position at the BBC after her fame skyrocketed after appearing on ITV’s “Love Island.”

‘Maya loved her time hosting Glow Up for the last two series but has decided now not to return for another run,’ a source told The Sun.

“It was a really difficult decision, but she’s going to be really busy doing two series of Love Island this year and couldn’t make it work.”

“She’s also gone down such a storm on Love Island that demand for her has gone through the roof, and her diary outside of filming the show is absolutely jam-packed.”

‘The BBC were gutted to lose her and are now on the hunt for her replacement.’

While the Islanders’ flirtatious antics are the main attraction, Maya almost stole the show when the season’s first episode aired last week.

Her black dress captured viewers’ attention, and she has been referred to as the “best thing” to happen to Love Island in a long time.

Following her performance on launch night, she later thanked fans for their “overwhelming” support, adding that Love Island producers “want to secure her for a multi-series deal.”

Love Island continues tonight at 9 p.m. on ITV2.
