Nick Furphy, star of Married at First Sight, has asked the public to assist pay for the restoration of his stolen social media account.
Back in 2017, the carpenter from Melbourne was on the fourth season of the Australian version of the reality series, when he was paired with business owner Sharon Marsh, whose twin sister Michelle also walked down the aisle as part of the programme.
While they were the only couple to remain together after their season ended, and Sharon moved across the country to try to make things work, they eventually split up.
He later dated fellow MAFS alum Jessika Power in 2019, but they broke up after two months.
Since appearing on the show, the former tradesman has changed careers and now works full-time as an influencer.
However, his Instagram account was hacked last month, locking him out and preventing him from communicating with his 72,000 followers or earning a living as an influencer.
Now, the former reality star has launched a GoFundMe campaign to gather funds to aid him in paying $3633 (£1,900) to a business that recovers hijacked accounts.
The fundraiser page states: ‘Help a reality star in need as he fights to get his Instagram account back from the clutches of evil hackers!’
‘This poor guy’s entire livelihood and happiness depends on his verified Instagram account.
‘Without it, Nick can’t make a living, go to events, or even pick up chicks! (Okay, maybe that last one isn’t so important, but you get the idea).’
In the description, Nick, 37, promises to utilise this event as a learning opportunity and to’strengthen his online security’ by utilising two-factor authentication if he is able to regain access to his account.
Former MAFS star Dan Hunjas has donated $35 (£19) to his cause, while Jessika has contributed $5 (£2.60).
While Nick is counting on his fans to help him make money after the show, another MAFS star has unwittingly become involved in a campaign for which he does not appear to be paid.
Harrison Boon, who was dubbed a’master manipulator’ after starring on the most recent season, was discovered last week to be the face of premature ejaculation tablets.
He was apparently unaware that his image was being utilised to market the goods.
Married at First Sight is streaming on All4.
