Marco Pierre White says vaccine passports should be ‘compulsory’ for being able to eat in restaurants.
The chef hailed it as a ‘really clever’ given the arrival of the more transmissible Indian Covid-19 variant in the UK.
A suggestion that his been continuously floated by government is the idea of vaccine passports – issued to those who have received their jabs – to get society moving.
It would essentially act as proof that someone has received their vaccination and could be requested before someone is allowed inside an establishment.
Appearing from his Corsham restaurant on Monday’s Good Morning Britain, Marco was asked by hosts Adil Ray and Susanna Reid to give his take, and he was all for it.
He said: ‘Passports are very good actually, especially if you look at what’s happening in the news.

‘To have a vaccine passport is really clever but it hasn’t been made compulsory yet but I think it should be.’
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that the passports are ‘an important way forward’ but there are no immediate plans to introduce them in the UK.
He stressed that ‘there is absolutely no question of people being asked to produce a certification or a Covid status report when they go to the shops or to the pub garden or to the hairdressers or whatever.’
People will not necessarily have to prove they have received the vaccine – if they have not yet received it they can also show proof of a recent negative test or proof that they have tested positive for Covid-19 antibodies.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
