A guy who was reunited with one of his injured pets has left viewers in tears after telling their sorrowful story.
Niall Harbison explained on Wednesday’s This Morning how protecting puppies in Thailand saved his own life.
After years of alcohol misuse, the former chef claimed to hosts Andi Peters and Rochelle Humes that he had a’mental breakdown’ and reached ‘rock bottom’ in hospital.
He attempted to make his life more’meaningful’ after recuperating when he came across strays on the streets and realised he had to assist.
What began with one dog has now grown to 800 that he and his helpers feed around Thailand.
Niall has subsequently published a book about his experience and hopes to ‘share the dogs’ stories’.
Niall was moved to tears when he received a surprise on the ITV show during the inspiring portion.
Hope, one of the dogs he had adopted, pleased Niall when she was led onto the set for a reunion.
‘Niall I can see this is making you emotional,’ Rochelle said, adding: ‘I can see how much this has touched you now.’
He replied: ‘The reason I’m emotional is she was shot with a nail gun when I found her in the middle of the jungle.
‘She was slashed with a machete and stuff, and I just can’t believe she walked through here.’
The tragic story had viewers in bits, with one saying: ‘@NiallHarbison you smashed it on #ThisMorning. I had such tears of happiness when Hope surprised you. Your book is being delivered tomorrow, can’t wait to get reading.’
