Domenica Calarco, star of Married at First Sight, has revealed the unusual snack she relies on to get through her period.
Last year, the 30-year-old make-up artist took part in the ninth season of the reality dating show, when she was paired with financial advisor Jack Millar.
While they parted after the cameras stopped rolling, Domenica has built out a career as an influencer, including a podcast and a recently announced sex toy brand with former co-star Ella Ding, as well as an appearance on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!
She’s also revealed some additional information about her private life to her 538,000 followers, including the cuisine she enjoys snacking on throughout her menstrual cycle.
Domenica took to social media this week to show off a package of chocolate-covered prunes.
‘This is a period snack that has changed my life,’ she explained in the caption.
‘Prunes for the constipation and chocolate because I need it during,’ she added.
Domenica was lauded for discussing the topic of period sex with her boyfriend on camera during her stint on MAFS.
Domenica questioned her husband how he felt about becoming sexual when she was menstruation soon after moving in with Jack, and he stated that it had previously been a ‘no-go zone’ in prior relationships.
Domenica subsequently stated that she was “very proud” that their chat was broadcast.
‘For me, I’ve always just been very open like that and spoke about, not only my sexuality and all that kind of stuff, but for me having a period and having a menstrual cycle is just normal.
‘Every female goes through it,’ she added when speaking to Nine Honey.
‘And I think there is still such a stigma attached to when females have their period and how they’re meant to feel. Are they meant to feel sexy? Are we even out of that? Can we have sex? How do men feel?
‘How are men going to take it when their partner wants to be intimate, but they’re on their period?’
She added that the experiment had been a ‘safe space to talk about everything and anything’, so she wanted to approach the conversation with her new partner as she found it ‘fascinating’.
