The Love Island 2023 summer season final has come, and four couples will compete for the grand prize on tonight’s episode.
But the show’s winter season, which Maya Jama hosts in the first few months of the year, could be getting a major makeover.
According to rumours, an all-star edition of the show may feature some recognised characters instead of introducing viewers to brand-new island residents.
‘The winter series of Love Island has been axed for a second time… viewers just aren’t interested in watching the show twice a year,’ a source claimed.
They continued to MailOnline: ‘It will be replaced by a brand new All Stars series, which will feature former Islanders who are still looking for love.’
The insider added: ‘In terms of iconic Love Island stars who are now happily married including the likes of Olivia Attwood, producers are looking into cameo appearances so that they still involve fan favourites from the years gone by.’
According to the tabloid, casting directors are reportedly looking for former Love Island stars who are single to sign up for the all-stars series, which will reportedly be filmed in South Africa.
Love Island will return to ITV2 and ITVX in 2024, ITV stated in response to a request for comment.
The Love Island final airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
