Love Island contestant Scott van-der-Sluis clarified if he intended to get back together with Catherine Abaje, a previous islander.
The real estate agent and the player, both 22 years old, were paired up, but things went south when Catherine paired up with Casa Amor bombshell Elom Ahlijah-Wilson.
Scott met Mitchel Taylor’s ex-girlfriend Abi Moores after Catherine and Elom were sent out of the villa, however they were kicked off the show after deciding to be a friendship pair.
Fans have been clamouring for Scott and Catherine to get back together, and host Maya Jama said on Sunday’s Aftersun that Catherine allegedly slipped into Scott’s direct messages.
Addressing the speculation over a potential date, Scott said: ‘At the moment we get on as friends really well.
‘There’s nothing different to that at the moment. I don’t know about a date just yet. I was sort of over that situation in the villa.’
He added: ‘You can never say never with it at the minute, but for me at the moment I’m sort of done with it.’
Even if it seems like Scott’s response is plain enough, committed followers are still optimistic.
‘Scott and catherine both went from “when I say I’m done I’m done” to “never say never” yeahh my delusions & I are gonna hang on a little bit longer,’ one person tweeted.
Another added: ‘Scott defending Catherine but also saying they are just friend but he said never say never so imma be delulu and take that as them getting married and having babies.’

“never say never” and catherine said the exact same thing as scott, yeah so basically what he’s saying is they’re going slow and they’re trying out being friends without pressure and it could really blossom into more like stay with me- #loveIsland pic.twitter.com/hmySx6isSa

In tonight’s show, Mitch and Ella Barnes just missed qualifying for tomorrow’s final show.
William Hill rates Lochan Nowacki and Whitney Adebayo as the clear favourites to win Monday’s season finale of Love Island.
The duo, who reunited after last year’s tumultuous Casa Amor, has chances of 4/7 to win the show’s ninth season.
With odds of 7/4, Tyrique Hyde and Ella Thomas are in second place.
William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps, said: ‘As this year’s Love Island Final edges closer, we make Lochan and Whitney the clear favourites to win this season’s share of the £50,000 prize.’
‘The pair have been popular with our punters since coupling up in Casa Amor and are odds-on at 4/7 to win the hearts of the public, ahead of Tyrique and Ella at 7/4.’
‘Sammy [Root] and Jess [Harding] (9/2) have also seen some support in recent weeks and are tipped to at least feature in Monday’s final three, whilst Zachariah [Noble] and Molly [Marsh] (16/1) have lost some momentum.’
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
