Indiyah Polack’s friends have had their say on her coupling up with Ikenna Ekwonna in the first episode of Love Island – and they’ve come to his defence the awkward first exchange.
During last night’s launch show, it was revealed that the public had voted for the first coupling up of the series, meaning it was left completely out of the islanders’ hands.
While some of the contestants seemed enthusiastic or intrigued by the matches, Indiyah couldn’t hide the disappointment on her face as Ikenna sidled up to her, leaving viewers in hysterics.
In a post shared on Indiyah’s Instagram Story – with her account being run by her friends, talent agency and mum while she’s in the villa – they revealed some of the messages they’ve received from fans agreeing that she and Ikenna might not be a match made in heaven.
‘She looked fuming,’ one person commented, while another wrote: ‘I’m sorry but Ikenna is not it.’
Indiyah’s friends responded by writing: ‘Oh gosh y’all aren’t feeling it at all,’ before adding some kind words backing Ikenna.
‘But let’s remember to be mindful y’all, it’s the first episode and Ikenna looks like a sweetheart,’ they added.
The Love Island villa can be unpredictable, so who knows how their relationship is going to play out?!
During the first episode, Indiyah later admitted that she needed to try and be more ‘open’ as she warmed to Ikenna.
The 23-year-old hotel waitress previously admitted that she’s a bit of a ‘player’ and will only ‘change her ways’ for the right person.
‘I think it will take the right person for me to tone it down and change my ways but what you see with me in real life is what you’re gonna see in the villa,’ she said ahead of the launch.
‘Depending on who you are and how you make me feel, if I feel like you’re good enough, if I feel like you’re the right person for me to change my ways then maybe I will.’
While she’s still getting to know Ikenna, there’s a chance that Davide Sanclimenti could catch her eye, after becoming the first bombshell to enter the villa, keeping all the guys on their toes.
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
