After 18 months together, Love Island winners Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti have broken up again.
Ekin-Su, 29, confirmed their breakup on Instagram, claiming that she made the decision to end their relationship.
‘The last 18 months have been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, just like every relationship. Davide and I both wanted to make this work as we cared deeply for each other,’ she began.
‘Unfortunately, I have recently made the decision to end our relationship and to go our separate ways.
‘Breakups are never easy for any couple, and we hope that our privacy will be respected at this time.’
She then thanked fans for their ‘continued support’. Davide, 29, is yet to comment.
While competing in the eighth series of the ITV programme, the couple fell in love, and their enemies-to-lovers arch assured that the rest of the nation did as well.
Over the course of two months, they provided many memorable moments, including Davide branding Ekin-Su a ‘lie’ and ‘actor’ after learning she crawled down the terrace to have a secret kiss with another islander, Jay Younger.
After a dramatic final date in a colosseum-style setting, where they were serenaded by Alfie Boe, they won with 63.7% of the vote.
They were initially love’s young dream and secured a series – Ekin-Su and Davide: Homecomings – where they
They introduced their hometowns in Turkey and Italy to one another.
However, by their 11-month anniversary in June 2023, they had split for the first time, and Davide was the one who made the announcement.
Their separation did not last long, as the couple reunited in August. Later, Davide stated that it was a ‘break’ rather than a split.
‘It’s a lovely feeling being with Ekin, we probably broke up more publicly but never privately because we have always been in touch and the love between me and Ekin have always been there,’ he told The Sun.
The couple has previously stated that they put too much pressure on their relationship and moved in together too early, all of which contributed to their initial split.
Love Island: All-Stars is presently airing its debut season, so maybe it’s time ITV did the right thing and brought us round four of reality TV’s most tumultuous couple.
