We know him as the arrogant, self-assured Love Island lothario, but Adam Collard has admitted that there is some pain underneath the laddish facade.
The Love Islander, 27, who was the first participant to participate on the programme twice, has taken part in the new series of Celebs Go Dating in the hopes of finding romance once more.
The point of the programme isn’t for the stars to, well, date each other, but that’s exactly what happened when Adam hooked up with model Lottie Moss, 25.
But that doesn’t exclude him from all of the in-depth discussions with the specialists.
In the most recent episode, the reality star discussed his background and how it affected who he is now.
‘Why is it, that people think you’re this guy,’ began Paul Brunson, referring to Adam’s boyish, unfaithful image. ‘But, what we see is this smart, ambitious, teddy bear?’
‘Why do we have that divide?’, he quizzed.
Responding, Adam began: ‘I think it’s, my dating life has been on TV. My relationship life, my proper relationship life, has not been on TV.
‘But maybe, by default, I go back to that one. It’s my safety net of when I’m going on dates, when I’m going on TV.’
Dr Tara then prompted him to ‘go back further’ to his teenage years.
Getting deep, Adam began: ‘I was a little bit overweight in school. Really quiet.’
‘I didn’t really have that much confidence in the way I looked, I didn’t like it,’ confessed the gym fanatic.
When Paul suggested that Adam was the ‘ugly duckling’, he agreed: ‘100%.’
He continued to cameras as photos of him as a child appeared on-screen: ‘I had a bit of a rough ride in my teenage years. A little bit overweight, wasn’t confident.
‘I feel like it’s something that’s definitely affected me. I feel like my defence mechanism is this kind of, confidence, charisma, the kind of f**k boy image, to be honest.’
Adam later revealed that people ‘made fun of’ him at school.
‘But when you’re that age, that’s the age where it hits you.
‘When it got to, like, sixth form, uni level, I’d had a massive body transformation, which then turned into a massive transformation of my confidence levels.
‘And since then, I would say that I just went crazy.’
Adam’s admissions certainly shocked the agents and they come after new flame Lottie divulged details about his softer side also.
Lottie has confirmed her relationship with the reality TV bad boy, speaking about getting to know Adam after they first slept together and thinking there was nothing more to it.
She explained: ‘When I first saw Adam I was like, “Nah, he’s not my type. Literally not my type at all” and then bam.’
Asked about what drew her towards him on Chloe Burrows’ Chloe Vs The Word podcast, she shared: ‘He’s very charming, he’s handsome, obviously 6’5. I like the tattoos.

‘It’s weird, we just have a connection. That’s literally all it is. Even the height, the tattoos would not have been enough but we have a special connection.’
When quizzed on what Adam is like as a boyfriend, Lottie divulged: ‘You know what, he is actually quite soppy when it is one-on-one, he’s just cute. We’ll have a cuddle and he’ll be lying on me and loves a little stroke like a puppy.’
