Love Island viewers have slammed the public recoupling twist, which saw four Black contestants put together.
The traditional format presented on the annual dating show sees the girls lining up and the boys taking their pick for the very first coupling. However, in a new twist, Monday’s episode saw five couples formed by public vote.
Hotel waitress Indiyah Polack is currently coupled up with pharmaceutical salesman Ikenna Ekwonna, while nanny Amber Beckford is paried with microbiologist Dami Hope.
While fans were intrigued by the shake-up, many have branded the pairings as ‘segregation’ on social media.
‘I knew the black people would be coupled together. the public is so predictable #loveisland,’ one person tweeted.
‘Catching up on Love Island and UK viewers really keeping segregation alive and well,’ another added.

During the latest episode, viewers were in stitches after hearing Indiyah and Amber butcher Ikenna’s name as they discussed him.
As the two discussed Indiyah’s reaction to being coupled up with him, Amber was laughing at Indiyah for calling him what sounded like ‘Ikano’
‘Sorry, what did you just call him?!’ she cackled.

However, after Indiyah, who admitted she felt ‘disrespectful’ not knowing his name properly, asked Amber for her input, she could only offer vague letters towards its spelling.
An ‘i’, two ‘k’s’ and an ‘a’, spelling… ‘Ikka’?
Elsewhere, Italian stallion Davide Sanclimenti surprised no one by picking Gemma Owen to couple up with after she made her interest known, which inevitably left Liam Llewellyn vulnerable.
But his luck could change as two new islanders Afia Tonkmor and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu are set to enter the villa.
The boy selected to take them on a first date was up to the Great British public once more, with the choice open for public vote shortly after the episode aired.
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
