Winter Love Island 2023 has begun, and it’s time for the much-anticipated Casa Amor portion.
Casa Amor has been a component of Love Island since series three, back in 2017, and serves as the final challenge for the villa’s current couples to conquer.
It also enables Islanders who are currently single – or who aren’t so thrilled with their existing partner – the opportunity to meet a prospective new love.
Fans watched the girls whisked away to Casa Amor on Sunday, February 12, where they were introduced to six new males, including series eight star Dami Hope’s buddy Martin Akinola.
And it wasn’t long before Olivia Hawkins became busy enough to forget partner Kai Fagan’s name…
Meanwhile, the current lads remained in the villa, but were soon joined by six newcomers, including Layla Al-Momani, who has a famous ex, and Dubai-based Sammy James.
So, now that everything is set to begin, how does Casa Amor work? Are there any rules?
What are the rules for Casa Amor contestants?
Since 2017, Love Island has added numerous new candidates around the middle of the show to keep things interesting.
It puts current connections to the test while also providing single Islanders with the opportunity to meet new individuals.
This year, the girls have been transported to Casa Amor, a branch of the main villa that is only utilised while the dramatic reorganisation takes place.
Six new lads arrive to Casa Amor as bombshells, while six new girls get to know the guys in the main villa.
Over the following two days, the remaining Islanders will see if they’ve begun to form a relationship with one of the newcomers, or if they’ll stick with their current partnership.
The producers of the programme frequently taunt the original Islanders by sending over postcards depicting the lads or ladies in compromising settings with new Islanders.
At the end of the experience, existing competitors select whether they want to stay with their current pairings or start a new relationship and bring them into the main villa.
Those new Islanders who are not chosen will be immediately removed from the island.
If a person recouples but their partner does not, their existing partner becomes single and is at risk of being returned home.
So, the next two days will be tough, but will any of the males or girls have their minds turned? Time will tell…
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
