The current batch of Love Island hopefuls have their luggage packed with swimsuits, huge sunglasses, and sunscreen, but they might want to consider packing an umbrella since rain and thunderstorms are apparently on the way.
The ITV programme returns on Monday, but production begins two days before, and there are presently weather warnings.
The property is in Palma de Mallorca, and the Spanish city is expecting rain and thunderstorms, as well as steamy, high temps, making the first wedding ceremony extremely theatrical.
Perhaps it will be very Notebook-like. Even by Love Island standards, if any of the candidates declares ‘It wasn’t over, it still isn’t done’ on day one, that would be quick work.
Fortunately, highs of 24 degrees are expected over the weekend, so they won’t be shivering in their unsuitable cozzies.
This type of weather is rather typical for this time of year, so ITV most certainly has a backup plan. Perhaps they can do what most Brits do on a wet holiday day and play Uno instead, though we’re not sure that would make for good TV.
Charlie Radnedge, who appeared in the 2022 series, provided insight into what occurs when the skies open.
The 29-year-old explained on TikTok: ‘When it rains in the villa, you all have to go inside and take a little break until things clear up again because you can’t film Love Island just in a bedroom, can you?’
I guess not, Charlie!
Maya Jama will return as Love Island’s presenter on Monday, while Iain Stirling will once again provide the hilarious narration. In addition to a soap star’s daughter, a footballer’s kid, and a Burna Boy video model.
The most recent season has added a new aspect to its material to make it more accessible to people.
The dating show will invite each islander to record self-descriptions, allowing people who listen to get to know them a bit better. There will also be an audio description of the property, and all of these recordings will be available on the show’s YouTube account.
The descriptive audio of the 10 original islanders have already been posted and provide a full account of their appearances.
Love Island 2023 starts Monday, June 5 at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
