This comes after the Scottish host mentioned a ‘uncomfortable’ episode with Russell Brand on her most recent programme, in the midst of the claims against him.
The St Trinian’s actor, 48, was accused of rape, sexual assault, and physical abuse in a Channel 4 special edition of Dispatches aired on Saturday as part of a joint investigation with The Times.
Brand, who disputed the’very serious claims’ in a video posted on Friday night, has been accused by many women, one of whom said she was 16 at the time.
Several celebrities have spoken out about their interactions with Brand, including Piers Morgan, who believes Brand views women as “prey.”
Meanwhile, previously unseen footage of Brand’s actions has surfaced, including his proposing to take a nude assistant to see Jimmy Savile during an on-air interview with the infamous paedophile.
Lorraine remarked on Wednesday’s programme about feeling ‘uncomfortable’ after Brand labelled her a’slut’ and ridiculed her for supposedly having braces in a footage from The Graham Norton programme in 2007.
After putting his hand on her leg, he interrupted himself mid-sentence and, seemingly shocked, said: ‘You’re wearing suspenders, Jesus!’
‘I’ve bitten off more than I can chew, I’m out of my depth,’ he continued, as everyone – including host Graham and Lorraine – laughed it off.
As she hid her face behind her hands, Brand laughed: ‘Yeah so I have been in other films but it doesn’t seem so important now that I know Lorraine Kelly is a slut.’
Speaking on Wednesday, Lorraine said: ‘Now look that is uncomfortable to watch now, that really is.
‘Also for the record, I was not wearing suspenders at all.
‘Everybody was laughing, I was laughing!’
She continued: ‘I must admit, it’s difficult, looking back on it now I probably would have said something.
‘But it’s an entertainment show, it’s late night, that was his schtick.
‘That’s what he was not just doing, but actively encouraged to do, and that’s a scandal.’
Lorraine Kelly airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1.
