A fabulous ITV show hosted by Lorraine Kelly will not be returning to our screens this year.
On a Saturday night in November, the 63-year-old Scottish TV show, Queens for the Night, had a lot of famous people dress up as drag queens.
Some celebrities, like Mr. Motivator and Adam Woodyatt (also known as Ian Beale), were paired with a dress coach and given the ultimate glamorous makeover.
The queens, who had just gotten their hair done, then tried to master drag in front of Melanie C of the Spice Girls, comedian Rob Beckett, Australian drag artist Courtney Act, and West End star Layton Williams, who were on the reviewing panel.
But the This Morning broadcaster has chosen not to bring back the show for the next 12 months, even though it was a huge hit with fans.
We also know that Queens for the Night could come back in the future, so let’s keep our fingers crossed for a full-fledged series.
Adam, who used to be on the soap opera EastEnders, had said before that he chose to be in the special because he wanted to “push” himself and try “different roles” since leaving the show.
Mr. Motivator had said that he had the “time of his life” on the show because drag coach Asttina Mandella had helped him get “out of his comfort zone.”
He explained: ‘You know what, I’m having the time of my life. When you step out of your comfort zone and you do something you’ve never done and to have the support of Asttina who is great.’
‘It’s just wonderful especially at my wonderful age of nearly 70.’
Chris Hughes from Love Island, another contestant, said he was there to help break down stereotypes about men.
The former reality star said he was “very emotional” and always cried on camera, so he wants to push other people to “be themselves.”
‘I’m a man and we should be able to cry. It’s great to be able to break that stigma down and people should be able to be themselves,’ he declared.
‘If you want to cry, if you want to wear heels, if you want to wear make-up, it doesn’t matter who you are, you should be able to do your thing.’
As for singer and X Factor star George Shelley, he described the drag community as ‘absolutely beautiful’ and ‘everything that I want from life.’
‘I’m able to celebrate being gay and I’m able to celebrate being feminine and being all the parts of myself that I’ve had to keep inside a box for so long.’
Queens for the Night is available to stream on ITVX.
