Lord Of The Rings fans have their minds blown as first look trailer wasn’t CGI: ‘That was real?’

‘That was REAL?’ one social media user said, seeming to sum up everyone’s thoughts. ‘Damn if they put this much effort into a title reveal i can only imagine how the show will turn out.’

‘Seeing this reminded me of the insane practical effects used in the trilogy and I would be lying if I said my interest in this didn’t just rise way higher,’ another added.

As well as revealing the title, the clip also featured a passage from the books very familiar to dedicated fans of the franchise.

‘Three things for the Elven kings under the sky,’ the voiceover in the clip says.

‘Seven for the dwarf lords in their halls of stone. Nine for mortal men, doomed to die. One for the dark lord, on his dark throne in the land of Mordor where the shadows lie.’

The series recently wrapped up filming and the title was recently revealed alongside a new teaser, with showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay saying: ‘This is a title that we imagine could live on the spine of a book next to J.R.R. Tolkien’s other classics.

‘The Rings of Power unites all the major stories of Middle-earth’s Second Age: the forging of the rings, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic tale of Númenor, and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men.

‘Until now, audiences have only seen on-screen the story of the One Ring – but before there was one, there were many… and we’re excited to share the epic story of them all.’

The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings of Power will arrive on September 22 on Amazon Prime Video.
