Lord Alan Sugar is so keen to get an invite onto The Graham Norton Show to plug the new series of The Apprentice that he’s taken to publicly writing to Graham Norton himself.

Following the successful launch of the 2022 chapter last week, the no-nonsense business mogul reached out to the talk show host on social media to ask for a spot on the sofa.

In a tweet for all his followers to see, Lord Sugar stressed he was available to dial in remotely on Zoom and also has some ‘good anecdotes’ up his sleeve.

‘.@grahnort  It’s been ages since I’v been on your show,’ he said.

‘I’m in Miami and can zoom in anytime. Its about time you gave @bbcapprentice a boost after so long,it’s breaking all records with viewing figures you might find me a bit boring but I’v some good anecdotes CAN YOU DM ME.’ (sic)

Fans were in stitches over the post, with one writing: ‘This is the unintentionally funny content I follow Lord Sugar for.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another penned: ‘Dear Graham, I wrote you but you still ain’t callin’.’

Lord Sugar last appeared on The Graham Norton Show in 2010 alongside Pamela Stephenson, Lee Mack, and James Blunt.

The first episode of this year’s Apprentice was watched by 4.6million people, making it the show’s most popular launch since 2017.

Series 16 began last week, with Lord Sugar aided by Baroness Karren Brady and previous winner Tim Campbell, who has filled in for Claude Littner while he recovers from an accident.

In the episode, former pharmacy manager Harry Mahmood, 35, became the first entrepreneur eliminated from the show.

He was awarded the British Empire Medal in the 2021 New Year Honours for his work in the West Midlands during the early months of lockdown.

The series will continue to see the remaining 15 entrepreneurs battle it out to win £250,000 of investment in their business.

The Apprentice continues on Thursday at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
