Lord Alan Sugar, who plays the businessman on the television show The Apprentice, is not renowned for being shy about speaking his mind. Now, the businessman has taken aim at Gordon Ramsay, accusing the chef of “ripping off” his series.

Since 2005, the business magnate, who is now 75 years old, has hosted the game show, which has been instrumental in the launch of a large number of companies when the show’s victor reaches the final round and receives an investment.

In spite of the fact that it has sparked the creation of other television shows, such as Tycoon and Beat the Boss, Lord Sugar does not appear to be thrilled with Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars, which he claims is quite similar to the one he hosts.

‘I think broadcasters, Channel 4, Channel 5, and ITV have tried for many years at least for 17 years to try and replicate the elimination process of The Apprentice. I say this with great respect to them but they’ve failed,’ he told Mail Online.

‘Last year, Gordon Ramsay had some cockamamie idea… I like Gordon and I think he’s very good and should stick to what he should do, cooking and all that stuff.

‘He had some thing, which was like, I don’t know how the lawyers allowed it because it was a virtual rip-off of The Apprentice. No disrespect to Gordon but stick to your day job mate that’s all I would say.’

In the first season of Ramsay’s show, which debuted in 2017, the chef and restaurateur, who is 56 years old, challenges 12 aspiring company owners to fight for a £150,000 investment of Ramsay’s own money to build a food business.

It became known almost immediately as “The Apprentice of Food.”

In addition, the second season will begin airing later on this year.

However, before that happens, the premiere of the seventeenth season of “The Apprentice” will take place tonight. This year’s competition features 18 hopefuls vying for a $250,000 investment and a coveted business partnership with Lord Sugar.

Their first mission will be to travel to the island of Antigua in the Caribbean, where they will be responsible for organising and marketing tours to vacationers.

When they come back to the UK, they will be faced with a number of problems, some of which include developing cartoons, putting on immersive events, venturing into the realm of male cosmetic products, and becoming familiar with the industry of street food.

The Apprentice airs Thursdays at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
