Line Of Duty’s Martin Compston is full of praise for his co-star Vicky McClure ahead of tonight’s hotly anticipated Trigger Point finale.

Vicky stars as experienced bomb disposal operative and front line officer Lana Washington in the ITV drama, which will see the Expo team stretched to breaking point dealing with a complicated gas-pipe device planted at the campaign HQ of the Progressive Alliance as it concludes this evening.

Martin couldn’t be prouder of his good friend, who he dubbed ‘the biggest action star’ on television, as he shared a picture of her hours before the episode airing.

‘Fills me with great joy that this sensitive soul, most likely lamenting the lack of a hot water bottle here, is by far and away the biggest action star on British telly right now,’ he penned.

‘Good luck to the Trigger Point team on the finale ’

We dig this friendship!

Martin and Vicky of course starred together in Jed Mercurio’s Line Of Duty, playing DI Steve Arnott and DI Kate Fleming respectively.

While Trigger Point was produced by Mercurio, Vicky previously stated that the two shows are very different from one another.

‘Obviously Trigger Point is quite action-packed and Line Of Duty has gotten more action-packed as its gone along and there is that police procedural side of it but, actually, it’s got no comparison in my head,’ she said.

‘I don’t feel there’s any part of Kate coming with me in that way. I’ve got my hair in a little ponytail for the majority of the show and I’m not wearing a scrap of makeup so I don’t look like Kate and I don’t feel like Kate. I think the audience will get involved in a new world and quickly be transported there.’

Prior to airing, Vicky admitted a weight of ‘responsibility’ to be ‘real and human’ onscreen so that people can learn to be comfortable with themselves and didn’t wear make-up the entire time while filming.

‘I (also) wore a crop top instead of an actual bra,’ she told the Radio Times. ‘I didn’t want the character to make a big deal about the way she looks. She is real and human.’

She continued: ‘I do feel a slight sense of responsibility. There is so much pressure on people, especially via social media.’

Trigger Point concludes tonight at 9pm on ITV.
