Lily James has opened up about the reservations she felt about starring in Pam & Tommy, admitting that she wanted to quit shortly before filming began.
The upcoming series, which has stoked plenty of controversy ahead of its release, depicts Lily as Pamela Anderson and Sebastian Stan as Mötley Crüe rocker Tommy Lee, when their sex tape was stolen and sold on the internet in the 1990s.
Ahead of its launch, fans have been left in awe by Lily’s transformation into the Baywatch star, with some photos taken of her in character making it impossible to distinguish between the actor and the real Pamela.
However, all of the hard work she put into rehearsing the role resulted in the Downton Abbey star considering stepping down completely.
Looking back on the intense boot camp she underwent to get into character, the 32-year-old said: ‘I really wanted to pull out of this a week before.’
Speaking to Variety, she added that her feeling was: ‘I can’t do it. I can’t do it,’ continuing: ‘It just felt too frightening. But I think that’s a good place to work from because it keeps you growing and getting better, I hope.’
