Les Dennis has been confirmed as the 15th and last Strictly Come Dancing celebrity.
Les, 69, from Family Fortunes, has been confirmed to be in the 2023 roster, with Bobby Brazier and Amanda Abbington.
The celebrity was announced on Friday’s Good Morning Britain, after hosts Ranvir Singh and Ben Shepherd had teased all morning that Ben was ready to hit the dancing.
Even their hints were purposefully perplexing, as they teased a daytime TV star with an evening game show while showing Ben laughing.
Les confessed that he has been approached to join Strictly previously, but it was while he was on Coronation Street and he couldn’t because of his contract.
He’s also not letting previous injuries deter him, declaring: ‘I had a knee replacement two years ago, and I remember thinking it’s time to slow down. But you get offered something like this and it puts a spring in your step.’
‘I’m excited but I’m terrified,’ he admitted, but is determined to prove ‘people of any age can do anything.’
Les said he was ‘thrilled’ to be taking part in a statement following his formal unveiling.
He said: ‘I’m thrilled to be doing this iconic wonderful show as I approach my 70th birthday!
‘In my career I’ve always gone for challenges outside my comfort zone and this is the ultimate one! Can’t wait.’
Les, who was previously married to Amanda Holden, had been heavily rumoured to be in the line-up, with an insider telling The Mail on Sunday: ‘He might be about to turn 70 but he is a showman and he will be great entertainment for those watching at home.
‘There is genuine excitement about Les taking part.’
The Celebrity Big Brother star is no stranger to the stage, having been in Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Only Fools And Horses The Musical, Chicago, and The Addams Family.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6amon ITV
