Les Dennis revealed how much his first Strictly Come Dancing rehearsal cost him.
The 69-year-old Family Fortunes actor was unveiled as the 15th and last candidate for the BBC show, joining Bobby Brazier and Amanda Abbington.
Appearing on ITV’s Good Morning Britain to reveal himself as the 15th and final contestant, he said: ‘I had a knee replacement two years ago and I remember thinking to myself, “it may be time to slow down”, but you get something offered like this and it puts a spring in your step.
‘I’m excited and I’m terrified. People at any age can do anything.’
However, Les recently disclosed that he has been suffering with the ‘hip motion’ required in the Latin numbers.
He said: ‘There’s a little bit of hip movement in our opening dance – we did it yesterday and today I couldn’t get up.’
Les added to The Mirror: ‘But I got myself fitter in the last month or so. It’s a great challenge.’
Following the formal announcement, the former Coronation Street actor unwittingly revealed that he had joined the line-up the week before when he posted a playlist labelled ‘Strictly by Les Dennis.’
Les said he was ‘thrilled’ to be taking part in a statement following his formal unveiling.
He said: ‘I’m thrilled to be doing this iconic wonderful show as I approach my 70th birthday!
‘In my career I’ve always gone for challenges outside my comfort zone and this is the ultimate one! Can’t wait.’
The Celebrity Big Brother star, who previously married Amanda Holden, is no stranger to the stage, having been in Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Only Fools And Horses The Musical, Chicago, and The Addams Family.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday, September 16 at 6:35pm.
