Fans of a legendary Noughties superhero show have complained that its creator squandered the ‘ideal time’ to announce its remake.

Showrunner Tim Kring is proposing a resurrection of Heroes, which follows regular people who find they have extraordinary abilities, to major broadcasters and streaming services.

However, the announcement came a few days after the solar eclipse swept over North America, and many fans of the original performance noted that this would have been a more suitable date.

That is because the natural event occurs not just in Heroes’ debut episode but also serves as a recurring motif throughout the series. It even appears on the show’s logo.

Reacting to the announcement of the reboot on X, fan Zach quipped: ‘Maybe ya could’ve announced this … 2 days ago?’

Echoing Zach’s sentiment, Dyl added: ‘They had the perfect opportunity to announce this two days ago?’

Erik remarked: ‘All of a sudden after an eclipse? Hahahah that’s hilarious but I love it.’

Fans were also split over the news, as a 2015 relaunch, Heroes Reborn, was poorly welcomed by fans and reviewers.

The 13-episode miniseries was a continuation of the original drama, following many people with exceptional abilities who are escaping vigilantes yet need to rescue the planet.

However, Aushad said he was behind a reboot, commenting: ‘If they can find a cast with as much chemistry [as the original] it can be monumental.’

According to Deadline, the reboot is titled Heroes: Eclipsed and ‘is set years after the events of the original series as new evos are being awakened and discovering powers that will change their lives.’

The synopsis continued: ‘Featuring familiar villains and new enemies who once again will be attempting to suppress this next step in human evolution, it will be up to this new group of heroes to save the world.’

Heroes ran on NBC for four seasons, beginning September 25, 2006 and ending February 8, 2010.

The cast included Hayden Panettiere, Kristen Bell, Zachary Quinto, Santiago Cabrera, and Jack Coleman.

Heroes received several honours and nominations throughout its career, including Primetime Emmys, Golden Globes, People’s Choice honours, and British Academy Television Awards.
