Reese Witherspoon has stated that she will return to her Legally Blonde roots with a prequel series centred on Elle Woods, and fans are eager for her daughter to sign up.
The 48-year-old won our hearts with her portrayal of the endearing law student in 2001 and has revealed plans for a third film in 2018.
While we wait for the untitled film, Amazon Prime Video announced earlier today that it has bought a TV show based on the character’s high school years.
Elle will follow the eponymous heroine as she navigates high school, with viewers learning about the life circumstances that formed her into the iconic young woman we all know and love from the original Legally Blonde film.
Although the cast has yet to be revealed, many have already had their ideal star in mind, and Reese will not have to go far to get them on the phone…
In fact, many have called for her mini-me daughter, Ava Phillippe, who she shares with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, to play little Elle, and she would be ideal.
Taking to Twitter, Hafeesco couldn’t help but quote the original flick, vowing: “Whoever said orange is the new pink was seriously disturbed.” This is a perfect opportunity to cast her daughter in the role.’
Lils agreed: ‘If her daughter doesn’t play her, they’re missing a really good opportunity.’
Streamqueen486 penned: ‘Omg, can they cast Reese daughter as the lead pls [sic].’
As Captnmarvl suggested: ‘They should have made this a few years ago and had her daughter play Elle bc they’re literally the same person [sic].’
Reese used her trusty bend and snap to announce the spin-off during Amazon’s upfront this morning in New York, and she will serve as an executive producer on the new series.
She said in a statement: ‘I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series!
‘Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do. What could be better than that?!

The Big Little Lies actress has a close relationship with Ava and is regularly accompanied by her eldest child on the red carpet.
The 24-year-old has spent the most of her life in the spotlight and has been in various modelling campaigns for labels like as Ivy Park, Rodarte, and Pat McGrath Labs.
While she has not discussed whether she wants to follow in her famous parents’ footsteps into Hollywood, Ava previously channelled her inner Elle Woods for an Aerie photoshoot, standing by a pool in a gorgeous swimsuit.
